Day 94 | DECEMBER 13, 2021

Good Evening Friends, today is day 94 of our new and amazing life!

Today is the happiest day since this journey has started !

Charlie called me !!! When I was driving to the hospital she told me that she can now drink and eat soft foods!!! I could not believe my ears ! Charlie was talking!!!!!!

I quickly changed my GPS to the closest Popeyes! Yes! I got Charlie a large sweet tea, a large Doctor Pepper, and a gallon of sweet tea .

When I arrived at the hospital, Charlie's room had 4 people inside, the PT team and two nurses , all talking and having the best time talking with Charlie !

The entire staff at the burn unit , came by to see Charlie talking, they were so happy for her , but also in disbelief that she was talking less than 24H after downsizing her trachea collar, on average it may take a few days if not weeks for the patient to tolerate the speaking valve, but Charlie mastered it within 20 minutes! She is speaking without any trouble breathing!

The speech pathologist told Charlie that he would return tomorrow or the day after with a machine to do her swallow test, Charlie quickly told him, you have no idea how long I have waited for this moment, it is a goal that I have been working for weeks, we will do the swallow test today, please go ahead and get the machine and return today, I will not accept any excuse you may have , I waited long enough.

20 minutes later, the machine was at Charlie's room and she was tested in swallowing liquids, soft foods, and crackers .

She passed with flying collars, and once again surprised the entire medical team, she is now allowed to drink liquids, eat soft foods, and very soon eat anything she desires ! Again this normally takes weeks before it can happen!

Charlie is so happy, I am still in shock that she went from being on the vent last week , to being able to talk and breathe on her own and be cleared to drink and eat ! All in the last 24H! Wow! If this is not the work of God , what other explanation do we have ?!

Yes, Charlie's mindset is beyond positive and she is so strong, her recovery is beyond believable!

I am so grateful to God, I am also grateful for your prayers and positive thoughts, and support!

Charlie is in such a good place today! I pray that she continues to heal and get better , God is showing through Charlie that the impossible can be achieved when we have faith!

Thank you God!

May God bless you !

André

Cheering on Charlie.

On Friday, September 10th, Charlie Anne Xavier was in a horrific and life-changing accident. Though she’s surprising her doctors and nurses daily with her incredible strength and resilience, this road to recovery will be an incredibly long one.
