Day 71 | NOVEMBER 20, 2021
Good Evening Friends, today is day 71 of our new and amazing life!
Today was a good day!
I spent the morning with my family, I was able to spend a very good few hours with the boys, we played , watched some cartoons, I also was able to take London to the playground. It was fantastic to spend some quality time with the boys, I have been missing that.
On days like today, I can’t help but miss Charlie dearly, I get this overwhelming feeling of “Saudades” this Portuguese word describes very well how I feel today. Saudades is a deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for something or someone that one cares for and/or loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never be had again. It is the recollection of feelings, experiences, places, or events that once brought excitement, pleasure, and well-being, which now trigger the senses and make one experience the pain of separation from those joyous sensations.
Today would be a day that we as a family would go out and explore some of our amazing places, like a winery or most likely we would be a Patch. Just so many emotions, I also feel hopeful, grateful and blessed, it is a weird day in terms of my own emotions, but I embrace all of them and try to focus on the positive ones, because at the end of the day, Charlie is alive by the grace of God and will come home one day !
When I arrived at the hospital around 3pm today, Charlie had just finished her air drying time and was resting, she gets very tired after the air drying and I love when she can actually rest, so she did that for the first hour and half of our visit, she was still connected to the ventilator but on a mode that she was doing the breathing on her own, they will try to get her completed off by nighttime, let’s see how she does.
Today I witnessed something that my mom told me weeks ago, Julien loves to dance ! He actually dances, moves his head and arms when a song has a good bit to it ! He also dances to most Beatles songs, it is just the cutest thing ever , well he is half Brazilian right .
At 5:15pm, the respiratory therapist came in and took Charlie off the ventilator:)! And she will now be off and only back on if she needs help breathing, which I am confident that she won’t need . Let’s pray for her to stay off the ventilator for good .
We watched 4 episodes of Yellowstone, it is a really good show , Charlie is really liking it. So I stayed a little later today so we could finish the 4th episode.
I am grateful that Charlie is off the ventilator and I will pray for her to remain off.
