Day 250 | MAY 18, 2022

Good evening, Friends, today is day 250 of our new and amazing life!

I know it will be hard to have a better Journal entry than yesterday, but I will try.

Today I woke up early, 5:25am I was up, I showered and had breakfast, I was up so early because I was anxious, today was my first day of Family Training, that is when SAI trains the family members that will take care of the patient is once home, so I went there to learn how to move Charlie from the bed into her chair safely, we learned PT technics, OT, Scar massage, how to shower her, do wound care, her entire routine.

I said we, because today two of her medical aids that will take care of her at home were also there training, and I was so pleased to meet them, they will be great! We are so grateful for their help.

I spent almost all day with Charlie, from 10am until 2pm, we had a great lunch together at the cafeteria, and it is incredible to see how everyone in there knows Charlie by name, she is well liked there.

On my drive home, I was thinking, how difficult must be for family members of patients that require care at home, and they are the ones to provide that care, I will be honest, I don’t think I could do, on top of everything also we have going on, and I felt this incredible sense of gratitude, that the insurance will cover the in-house care, how blessed are we to have this service!

Today, tile installation has started at her bathroom, and we are moving fast with the modifications. I am so grateful for our construction workers; they are working hard to make our home ready for Charlie.

During PT Charlie walked with the walker, and she tried her new shoes for the first time, and they worked 🙂.

Today I got to see what she goes through every day! Pain, sweat and tears! That is her daily routine to regain her mobility!

Charlie you are amazing!!

I am grateful for your prayers, I will kindly ask for your prayers tonight, I need God’s guidance, I have some big decisions to make in regards to this next phase of care, and I need clarity.

Thank you so much! May God Bless You!

Cheering on Charlie.

On Friday, September 10th, Charlie Anne Xavier was in a horrific and life-changing accident. Though she’s surprising her doctors and nurses daily with her incredible strength and resilience, this road to recovery will be an incredibly long one.
