Day 245 | MAY 13, 2022

Good evening, Friends, today is 245 of our new and amazing life.

Today was a day to face our new reality.

As usual in the morning, Charlie called to see her boys and to wish London a good day at School.

In the morning call Charlie got to see the progress on her new room and bathroom, the dry wall went up today, we are moving fast since her discharge date is approaching even faster!

Today I went by Patch once again this week, to meet with dear friends from Brazil, and I continue to work hard towards getting used to be at Patch again.

Charlie and I now love to have Pizza on Friday’s, it is our new tradition:) today we had Pizza from mellow mushroom and it was delicious!!

Charlie had a challenging day I would day, she had a good session with PT, but as she was attempting to break her own record walking, the skin above her knee opened and she was bleeding all over her new pants 😞, yes, that happens quiet often during PT, her CEA grafts are very sensitive, so you can only imagine the pain that Charlie feels on a daily basis during her PT, and yet, she doesn’t stop and keeps on pushing!

The real challenge today was, facing her new reality, for the first time, Charlie saw in a DMV form, that she is now permanently disable, according to the Virginia Law, it is a hard pill to swallow at age 35, but please don’t think for a second that Charlie feels disable, she does not and no matter what any form says, she has survived the impossible and nothing will stop her from living her best life with her family and friends, but it does take a minute to process this new reality, even the strong sometimes needs

She didn’t complain, but I can imagine what she felt when she saw the form, because for me , took me a second once I read the form.

Tomorrow I am going to the DMV to register our new van, and her Dr. wanted to make sure we got handicap tags for the van.

This is our new and amazing life, full of adjustments and I am sure of surprises, I am confident that we will be able to overcome any and all challenges, with the Grace of God and your help, anything is possible.

May God Bless You!

André

Cheering on Charlie.

On Friday, September 10th, Charlie Anne Xavier was in a horrific and life-changing accident. Though she’s surprising her doctors and nurses daily with her incredible strength and resilience, this road to recovery will be an incredibly long one.
