Day 178 | MARCH 07, 2022

Good evening, Friends, today is day 178 of our amazing and new life!

Today I woke up and was happy to have a warm day 🙂

In the morning I exchanged emails with Charlie Drs. I am grateful to have a seat at their discussion table in regards to Charlie's care, I do bring a unique set of knowledge of Charlie’s person, preferences and also what I learned during my 3 months, 8 hours day research of all things related to Burn care and its metabolic changes on the survivor.

After lunch, I made my way to see my beautiful wife.

Charlie had a busy day today and she was happy to have time with me. She did a very intense PT session, they are working hard in stretching her skin, and she also worked in a machine to help her feet, she is improving her endurance day by day.

Charlie is looking forward to speaking with her surgeon on Wednesday, she has some breakdown on her grafts in her legs, praying that she can heal those without the need of redoing it, too early to tell.

The SAI staff is really starting to embrace Charlie, and today Charlie received 4 flower arrangements and one edible arrangement. The receptionist asked me if today was Charlie’s birthday:), I said no, she is just loved by so many people!

Charlie asked to thank you! For your generosity and incredible flowers and gifts! She loves flowers and she is so grateful for your expression of love! It is greatly appreciated.

I learned today that Charlie lost 34% of her body weight in 6 months, that is a combination of the burned tissue and the Hypermetabolic effect that she experienced as a burn victim, but now Charlie is a burn survivor and she has a great diet rich in protein to help her heal and eventually regain her muscle mass.

Today during OT, Charlie did a painting with her left hand (she is right-handed), but her right hand is severely burned and she can’t use it at this time. She asked me to give it to London. He will be so excited to see it in the morning.

Thank you for your prayers and generosity.

May God Bless You!

André

Cheering on Charlie.

On Friday, September 10th, Charlie Anne Xavier was in a horrific and life-changing accident. Though she’s surprising her doctors and nurses daily with her incredible strength and resilience, this road to recovery will be an incredibly long one.
