Day 176 | MARCH 05, 2022

Good evening, Friends, today is day 176 of our new and amazing new life!

I started the day as usual with London waking me up and asking, dad is it a school day? To his delight today is Saturday:) no school.

Breakfast with the boys was great and I made my way to the grocery store to buy us food.

After that, I had lunch with my mom and made my way to SAI.

When I arrived, Charlie was just about to start her shower, and she was a little frustrated with her transfer from the bed into the shower chair. I am glad that I arrived when I did, so I could offer her a little consolation and she quickly was back to smiling :)

I am learning how to properly give her a shower and how to do wound care, I am grateful for the opportunity to learn the proper way to care for Charlie in case i have to do so when she comes home, it brings me comfort to know that I am able to care for her and offer her comfort and love.

Charlie had a busy day, she had PT and OT as usual, 3 hours a day, they work with her 6 days a week, so tomorrow will be her first day off 🙂, I am sure she will be so excited to have a day off from PT and OT, she earned her rest, Charlie is doing extremely well, she has mastered being able to stand up from her bed and pivot into her wheelchair, she still requires assistance, but she is doing better each day.

We are so grateful for the SAI. They have taken excellent care of Charlie, and she is feeling cared for and she is comfortable with her stay so far. She is missing her nurses/friends at VCU burn unit, but she is already making an impression on the staff at SAI.

Charlie and I had a great time reading the Brene Brown book, the Atlas of the heart together, she read a chapter and I read another, so we alternate reading. This is such a good book, I highly recommend it to anyone looking to expand their language, and the understanding of feelings and emotions.

Next week Charlie has a telehealth appointment with her Surgeon from the Burn Unit, and she will ask him about the best plan for her possible knee surgery. I ask for your prayers, for God to guide her doctors in choosing the best plan to restore Charlie’s mobility.

I am so grateful for your kindness and generosity; Charlie is starting to receive Cards and flowers! She is loving to see your support!

May God Bless You!

Cheering on Charlie.

On Friday, September 10th, Charlie Anne Xavier was in a horrific and life-changing accident. Though she’s surprising her doctors and nurses daily with her incredible strength and resilience, this road to recovery will be an incredibly long one.
